Suz, Steve, Lynn, Seth, Rowbot, Taryn, Sampson, Stacey, Halie, Sean, Dani, Syd, Te6, and my husband-
Every so often I get this wild hair to test CrossFit and what it says we can and can't do. Today, Sean, Dani and Syd ran their very first 5K; to make it a family affair Steve and Suz ran with them. Lynn and Taryn ran a 10K with ease, Taryn managed to finish the run wearing CHUCKS! Very impressive. The rest of us ran the half marathon, and to all of you I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Only a month ago did I decided this was something I wanted to participate in and all of you rose to the challenge to do so as well. It didn't matter that we didn't run as pack or that we all ran different courses (5K, 10K, half marathon) what mattered was I truly felt supported by each and every one of you and was so overwhelmed to see all of your faces at the finish line cheering.
CrossFit is not just about the challenge of the WOD but the bond we create. I ran my first half marathon today 28 weeks pregnant with the support of my husband and all of you. I will never forget the support you have offered me and will always remember this as "my best run". I owe you guys!
Special thanks to my hubby- I know he is not an endurance guy and has no desire to run anything over a 10K, but did so to support me. Not only did he also sign up for the run, but he ran along side me the entire time. Without you there Dustin, I think I would have stopped. I love you and I am grateful for you.
Stacey- I am happy to have participated in a run with you before you ship off to Korea. You were one of the first to sign up and support me, thank you!
Lastly, to everyone who sent texts or messages via Facebook- thank you for your support and checking in. It was great to see so many of you care and were interested to see not just how I did, but how we all did. On a side note, all my toe nails are still intact!

Lo, DJ, and Halie how are you feeling after your very first half marathon? I know my hips are a little sore today. Great job everyone.
Ready to tackle Annie after being out for 3 days. See you all this afternoon.

Stacey, my hips are very sore and DJ says it's his knees that are bothering him. Either way, we are both glad we did it. I did some stretching but everything still feels very tight. I hope you meant you are tackling Angie and not Annie- they are a little different =)
Maris, I bet you are glad you have PT- that has to be easier/better then a 100 reps of pull-ups/push-ups/sit-ups and squats...no?
Posted by: Lo | Monday, February 08, 2010 at 09:31 AM
Stacey.. My knees are pretty sore. I want to do todays workout but I have a feeling my squats will be ugly. Other than my knees, just some sore leg and hip muscles. I'm just glad it's over.
Posted by: Halie | Monday, February 08, 2010 at 09:44 AM
Stacey for me its just my knees. I'm taking the rest day today and I will be back at it tomorrow. Yeah Lo is Super-Prego and extremely tough.
Thanks Saki and Meg for working at the gym yesterday morning so we could run.
A big thank you to Steve, Suz, Syd, Dani, Sean and everybody else for sticking around and cheering everybody across the finish line yesterday. I know you had to wait awhile but it was nice to see a friendly face when we crossed the line.
The 13 miles was not as bad physically as I expected but the mental aspect was tough. It seemed like every mile after mile 9 just got longer, and longer, and longer. CrossFit breeds a desire to not want to quit. Lo and I would see people stopping to stretch, rest etc and we both thought "to hell with that we want to finish." Again thank you everybody for your support.

Yeah, Angie I mean. I've never been good with names. I'll call her sweetie from now on.

Congratulations to all of you runners!!!! Such a feat is simply amazing to me and what a great example for us all ...
I absolutely LOVE the team play and "family" environment here at CFS...whether enjoying each other at a Fight Night and contributing goodies for the cause (thanks again to all--it was a great evening!), at the special tribute WODs or events such as this run,....or every "regular" day in the "box",...the PEOPLE are what makes it extra special!!
OXOXOX

My partner in crime was Cindy this time. Lol. We whooped on Dale, Connie and Kenny. It was brutal. There was blood, sweat and maybe some tears...and a torn hand I think. ;)

A BIG thanks to Cindy for covering for me yesterday- you are awesome. 8-)

Don't worry Saki- our weekend fling will be back soon. Jason is all good with it.

No problem Meghann. I didn't mind at all, but apparently I don't have the same effect on Sakura that you do. I am a little jealous.
